Medical Evaluation & Laboratory Testing

Medical Evaluation & Laboratory Testing

Physical health and mental health are closely connected; many medical conditions can contribute to psychiatric symptoms. As part of a comprehensive evaluation, we proactively screen for medical causes and collaborate with your other providers so nothing gets missed.

This means looking beyond symptoms to what might be driving them: thyroid function, vitamin deficiencies, anemia, diabetes, kidney or liver disease, hormone imbalances, and other metabolic factors can all affect mood, energy, and focus.

What This Involves

  • Screening for medical conditions that may contribute to emotional or behavioral symptoms
  • Laboratory testing for thyroid function, vitamin levels, anemia, diabetes, kidney/liver function, hormones, and other metabolic concerns
  • Review of current medications for possible psychiatric side effects or interactions
  • Collaboration with primary care providers and medical specialists
  • Consultation with therapists, school psychologists, guidance counselors, and teachers when appropriate
  • Development of one coordinated, individualized treatment plan

Who This Is For

Patients whose symptoms may have a physical component, or who want a more complete picture before starting or adjusting treatment.
